Why a Governance Certification?
Quite Simply - sport is a business. And in corporate environments it is standard to have individuals certified in governance. To the same extent this did not exist in the sporting context, and we want to equip current and future leaders to lead from a place of empowerment, to boldly change the sporting ecosystem they are involved in!

Good Governance is often seen as a tick box, as a list of must-do's in order to simply please the organisations who oversee.
The reality is that Good Governance creates order, it creates systems, and through that order and systems organisations can run smoothly, effectively and efficiently. Saving precious resources that we need to stay within our sports!

Our certificate is a self-paced learning system, which allows for you as the learner to complete it alongside your busy schedule. Throughout the course assessments are to be handed in, in order for you to apply the information learned. Setting you up for success to make meaningful change.
Carefully Curated Content
Prof. Elisabeth Vathje OLY carefully researched and explored governance best practices, culminating with the International Sports Director Certification. Her experience in governance roles, combined with research, allowed her to learn from best practices in both corporate & the sporting world, her ability to translate complex governance practices to bite sized - understandable information allows learners, regardless of their background to excel in our program.
